Hi Everyone!
I hope you're having a good week. I'm just taking a little break from our busy week to write a quick update. As you may know, Scott and I are beginning our adventure on Sunday. We're pretty organised (I think) but this week we've been doing the last few bits and bobs (the kind of things that we probably don't need to do but have done anyway). We're going to our favourite restaurant tonight 'Locanda De Gusti', tomorrow we're having a wee party at my mums and then Saturday is packing, packing, packing. Then that will be us. We can check in tomorrow but we've chosen our seats for the first flights. Thank goodness for films - I think that will be our godsend in keeping me from fidgeting and annoying Scott. We've also got a kindle with plenty books and our smaller Dell laptop with music ready. It's all getting very real now, and we are getting more and more excited everyday.
We're staying in Auckland for the first two weeks (at least). During this time we'll be checking out Auckand and the surrounding areas, visiting the zoo (Scott's brother in law gave us tickets for xmas which is awesome), we'll set up a NZ bank account and find our perfect camper. We've been checking out campers online and there should be plenty out there. That's the way most travellers move around NZ - either in a rented or purchased camper and if they've bought it, they usually sell it back. Some even come with a kayak, surfboard or scuba diving gear! We arrive in Auckland on Tuesday at 2pm. Then we'll probably jump on to the Sky Bus which takes you into Auckland (it's the cheapest way to get from the airport into the centre) and then find the local bus to Remuera. That's where our Airbnb is situated. We're staying with a lovely lady and her cat for 2 weeks. After that, as much as we'll probably want to sleep, we'll probably go for a wander to help the jet lag situation.
Our phone contracts mean that we can use our phones in NZ and in the UK for 3 months. After that, we'll get a NZ sim. In terms of staying in touch, thanks to good old technology, we've got Skype and Whatsapp. We'll find wifi spots as much as we can so that we can share photos and catch up with everyone. In terms of my blog, I will use it more as a diary so that I can look back and remember all that we've done, and you can also check out what we've been doing (if you wish). I will share my food journey too but somehow, I don't think I'll be cooking wellingtons or anything like that but we'll see...
Anyway, please keep checking out my blogs and I hope that you still enjoy reading them. I don't know how regular they will be but I hope to write as much as I can.
Cheers for now x gf v x
