I have been keen to make homemade peanut butter cups for a veryyyyy long time. Due to the amount of Reeses I can eat on a daily basis, I thought that learning to make my own was crucial. So that's what I did. I had some help from my friend Stephanie (she is interning here as part of her school studies - all the way from Austria).
We decided to make some milk chocolate cups and some dark chocolate cups. They were easy to make, just a little time consuming (totally worth it though). This recipe I found worked really well:

I tweaked the recipe slightly so here's what we did:
Ingredients:
12 paper muffin cups
340g chocolate (milk, white or dark - we used half dark and half milk)
300g peanut butter (I used Lidl's high protein smooth pb)
170g icing/powdered sugar
Method:
1. Cut the top off the muffin paper cups so that they are shallower (we didn't do this - we made deeper cups but it's up to you).
2. Melt the chocolate and some of the peanut butter in a glass bowl - using a microwave 2 mins or Aga 5 mins. We melted 170g milk chocolate with 30g peanut butter in one bowl and 170g dark chocolate with 30g peanut butter in one bowl. Make sure you don't overcook the chocolate or it will seize up!
3. Using a teaspoon, spoon a portion of the melted chocolate into the middle of a paper cup. Use the back of the spoon to draw the chocolate up the edges of the cup. Coat the inside of the entire cup. Do this for each cup and place the cups into a muffin tin. Put the tin(s) into the fridge until the chocolate hardens up.
4. Mix the remainder of the peanut butter with the icing/powdered sugar in a glass bowl and soften in the microwave/aga for a minute or so.
5. Once the chocolate has hardened, spoon a small portion of the softened peanut butter into each cup. Leave room at the top for an additional layer of chocolate, which gets added later. Put the cups back into the fridge for 10 minutes, then use your fingers to flatten and spread out the peanut butter. Pop the cups into the fridge for an hour now, or until the peanut butter has hardened.
6. Once the filling has hardened, use a teaspoon to spread the last later of chocolate onto the cups (the chocolate may need re-melted slightly). Chill the cups again until the chocolate has hardened.
7. There you have it! Your very own peanut butter cups. Enjoy:) I think they are deliciouuuuuuuus!
Here are some photos of our journey (that's me and my peanut butter I mean):
